The questions and challenges are more than complex when the future of cultural assets, museums and monuments, collections and exhibits is involved. The ninth EXPONATEC COLOGNE offers the best prerequisites for keeping up to date with current and continuing developments of concepts and technologies. In all important segments, providers from Germany and abroad present innovations and new approaches that contribute to answering the most varied questions. EXPONATEC COLOGNE, International Trade Fair for Museums, Conservation and Cultural Heritage, is also flanked by a technically ambitious event and congress programme, in which experts from research and teaching, as well as from the culture business are expected.
Renowned companies like All4Groups Systems / Groupy System from Austria, the Infografen from Lübeck, Digitales Archiv NRW from Dortmund, flex-con Media IT GmbH from Beckum, Linon Medien from Schonungen, Orange Medien from Ingolstadt and the University of Bremen LEMEX can be found in the Media section. With Acoustiguide, Berlin and Tonwelt, Berlin, two providers are also on location in Cologne that have exhibited several times at EXPONATEC COLOGNE. Canon from Krefeld presents itself in this environment, which places the focus on the media reappraisal and conveying of information, data and image material. Tour guide systems, multimedia representations or app technologies with related devices are presented here from various perspectives for the most varied target groups.
A different offering focus involves administration needs. Important providers like Arbitec-Forster GmbH from Neuss, Art Store Kern Studer AG from Switzerland, Gallery Systems from New York, Qulto International Ltd from Hungary and SKINsoft from France can also be found here. Bruynzeel Archiv-und bürosysteme from Kleve and Archibald Regalanlagen GmbH & Co.KG from Dissen are exhibiting again. The core point of this exhibition section is systems for data acquisition and filing, both digitally and real, which are especially tailored to the needs of culture authorities, museums and collections.
Exhibition design is also a central aspect of cultural mediation. At EXPONATEC COLOGNE, companies like Blackbox-av from the United Kingdom, Kessler Licht Techniek from Königseggwald, Pilkington Deutschland from Gladbeck, Solits V.O.F. from the Netherlands, Tactile Studio UG from Berlin and Tianjin Wangda Displaying Tools from China provide a good overview of themes like lighting technology, glazing, sound and speech technology, display and display case solutions, 3D technology and barrier-free systems, as well as motion design. Archimedes Exhibitions GmbH of Berlin, as well as Glasbau Hahn of Frankfurt are exhibiting as participants of many years. Restoration needs, such as special tools or materials for restoration are competently covered by, for example, Deffner + Johann from Röthlein.
Also participating as cooperation partners for EXPONATEC COLOGNE once again are the Deutsche Museumsbund e.V. (DBM), Europa Nostra and The Best in Heritage with a high quality lecture programme. The organisers will be on location with many experts to convey information and technical knowledge at first hand.
Highlights in the event programme are:
• Deutsche Museumskongress – in cooperation with the Kunsthandel publishing house, Neu-Isenburg
• Talks under the title "Stations of art. Behind the museum curtain", organised by the association of restorers (VDR), the German museum association (DBM) and the Network of European Museum Organisations (NEMO).
